Happy Birthday Uncle Tyler, we got you a great present!

"It's Tyler's birthday on Saturday."

"Should we get him a present?"

"Sure, what should we get him?"

"Ummm, maybe a motorcycle."

"Well, I think a motorcycle might be a little expensive."

"I have money, how much do we need?"

"Hmm, maybe about 10,000 dollars."

"WHAT? You have GOT to be kidding me! Maybe we can just get him a jeep instead."

Happy Birthday Ty, we have your jeep here waiting for you. You just need to come to Manila to pick it up!

PS: Uncle Tyler is single, cute and great with kids....hint hint. Oh, and now he has a new "ride" courtesy of Holden.

Friday Fodder

Take a look at this photo: Does this look like an "All American Family" to you?

It was taken at a casting call for a major fast food chain here that we took Holden to a few weeks ago. Lets go through it bit by bit. The "father," dark haired American. The "kids," fair skined, blonde haired and light eyed. The "mother" Filipina. Call me crazy either this "dad" is on his 2nd marriage or the kids are adopted. Look at little man, the smallest one. He ended up having a minor crush on the "mom" and stuck with her throughout the actual commercial shoot. Pictured below is the set-up for the shoot. It was a birthday party theme in Las Vegas and Holden was crushed to find out that the mascot for said fast food chain was a fake in a costume. Guess the Easter Bunny and Santa are next.

Babies everywhere!

Does anyone else have pregnancy announcements to make? From Idaho and Utah to Manila it's raining babies.
Here is Safiya.

She is the baby we were celebrating a few weeks ago at the "Pink" baby shower. She is a little peanut, or shall I call her PEE-Nut. Today I did her newborn photo shoot and Nate obliged us by waking up to be our hand model (you know, one more thing to add to his acting resume).

Little Safiya let him know just how much she liked him by peeing all down his arm, lucky for all, Nate didn't even flinch. Must be the sign of a true professional! To see more photos of this little 5 pounder, click on the simpson may photography blog on the left side or here: http://www.simpsonmayphotography.blogspot.com/

Just a few days apart is little Jaycie, my sister-in-laws curly haired little munchkin. I wish I was in Utah to eat her up. As always another cute baby from the May clan.

On top of these two newbies is a slew of pregnant women! My other sister-in-law Nicole is pregnant. My two very best friends from high school Alysia and Julie are BOTH having their fourth child, BOTH boys. Another friend from back in B-town, Kim, is having a baby. Two additional friends here, Tamara and Michiko are BOTH ready to pop with girls in the next few months, not to mention a few others I know here in Manila who are pregnant as well! And to top it all off, our yaya is due in 6 months. Wow, I'm exhausted just thinking about all of it. Congratulations to all of you! I better get to the store and stock up on gifts.

Happy Easter

Easter is much different here than back home. There is no ham and "funeral potatoes" or family dinners but there are good friends and Easter brunch, and that is as much as we can ask for! Holden woke up to find that good old cotton-tail had remembered him with a basket of goodies. Unfortunately there aren't aisles and aisles of egg decorating kits here, so there was no egg hunt this morning. In fact, I am pretty sure he has no idea what dying eggs is about. Will have to remember to doctrinate him in that when we return to the States.

We went to the Makati Shangrila with this wild group.
and managed to spend WAY too much money!!! Too painful to tell you the number in US dollars but if you want to figure it out just divide it by 40. No new bags for me this week!
Afterwards we grabbed Holden and headed to some other friends house or a great BBQ and some swimming.

Fridays are for fodder

Here is our newest thing: Friday Fodder. The insanity of the things we experience need to be shared with you, really they do!!!
As seen at Chelsea. I can't even imagine the looks I would get out in socks and heels. Not only socks and heels, but white shoes and black socks, isn't that as sacrilege as white pants after labor day? She had a cute short black dress on with this get-up but I was trying to be discreet :)

March in Manila has been busy

I haven't had time to post anything lately as we have been running around to numerous Easter parties

fun fun Birthday parties,
a few commercial and catalog shoots

and as some of you may not be surprised to hear, I have taken on another task as the 2nd VP of the American Women's club. How many vice presidents does it take to run this organization you may ask: only 3! Oh, and a slew of other talented committed women.

Nate on the other hand has been sleeping...at the local Starbucks (this photo is not posed, he REALLY did fall asleep while having the morning latte with Paul, Helen and myself). When I showed him this photo moments later in the car, his response was; "When was that taken?" Can you say narcolepsy? Ah the price he pays for his job.
Nate had an exciting opportunity the other day to play an FBI agent in a movie with Dean Cain(http://www.deancaincentral.com/)that was being filmed here in Manila. He started as an extra but ended up having a slightly larger role and is very excited to let his brother-in-law Travis know that he made it to agent status first. He was a little too excited to be carrying around a gun the whole day. The movie (at least his part) was filmed at a home, scratch that, mansion owned by the Sultan of Brunei. According to those on the inside (aka Nate) the place was over the top ornate with gold everywhere.
So, that's our life in a nutshell. I think it's time for a trip to the beach...

It's Ball Season in Manila

Ah, tis the season...for excuses to buy gowns and dress up in bowties. This year we have hit the George Washington Ball and the ANZA (Australian/New Zealand) Ball. More pictures to come, but rest assured, both were a great time and we are looking forward to more!
